BASICS FOR STRUMMING

Hey guys welcome to this tutorial.
Infact the most important tutorial.
It's an often neglected aspect of guitar
playing; we as guitarists tend to worry
much more about getting our fingers
in the right positions on the strings yeah no doubt this part need lots and
lots of practice.. Rather would say
learning guitar needs lots of practice
and patience..
I will try to make things simple as
much as i can.. By going throw this am sure you will be able to strumm easily..
First things first... make sure your
guitar is in tune, and you have a guitar
pick.
Few things to keep in mind as you
play 1) If you are playing an acoustic
guitar, make sure to strum directly
over the sound hole.
2) Make sure all strings are ringing
clearly. 3) You are holding the chord
and the pick properly.
4) And the most important thing is
your arm should swing up and down
freely in a steady way and movement
should be at elbow joint and not at
wrist joint. Stroke which make strumming-
basically there are 3 types of stroke.
1) "D" - down stroke
2) "U" - up stroke
3) Muted stroke - in this stroke we just
hold the strings lightly and play the regular up or down stroke.
To begin with you can use following
simple strumming patterns using 4
strokes.
1) D D D D - all the down strokes with a
gap between every down stroke 2) U U U U - All up stroke with a gap
3) D U D U - alternating down and up
stroke with a gap.
4) DUDU - alternate up and down
withou gap. Tap your feet as you
finish a beat. Practice these as much as you can.
will soon be back with some basic
patterns which fits many songs so
keep practicing
hope this will be useful to you
